Many times people think rural open areas are a pristine environment to grow up in but that couldn't be further from the truth in my case. I grew up in Montana, watching crop dusters as they flew overhead and I'm quite certain that they got me more than once. But I think it's the many years of exposure to petroleum products that did the most damage. My dad owned a heavy highway construction company and I loved to hang out with him. I'd spend hours playing around the oil drums, with never a thought to any health implications. Later I owned my own contracting company and my exposure to chemicals continued.
The cumulative effect of all of those toxins eventually caught up with me. In 1993 I was essentially dying from the inside out. My endocrine system was shutting down, I had adverse reactions to any medications and I developed multiple chemical sensitivities. I couldn't be in a room if someone was wearing perfume and if I made a mistake of using a chemical cleaning product I would have to have bed rest for hours. For two years I was misdiagnosed, being told there was nothing wrong. My doctor offered me anti-depressants. I told him that he'd be depressed too, if he'd been seeing a doctor every month and still have no answers. I had to know why I was feeling so sick.
A friend gave me the name of a holistic medical practitioner and he determined that my adrenal system was already gone. I wouldn't be around for much longer unless I made drastic changes to my diet and lifestyle. I eliminated processed foods from my diet (white flour, sugar), adopted other detoxification practices and I got worse before I slowly got better. During that time I didn't have the energy to take care of myself let alone my son, or my relationship with my husband. All aspects of my life were challenged and I withdrew from the world.
By 2004 my health was back on track and I was at a major turning point in my life. I put everything I owned in storage, bought a one-way ticket to Hawaii and arrived not knowing a soul with no job or place to stay. I wanted Hawaii to be my permanent home but I had only two months to figure out how to do that. After living a rather reclusive life for many years, I forced myself to go out and meet ten new people a day. This networking led to a job as a mortgage loan officer and I moved to Hawaii permanently.
In February I got a call from a biochemist friend who said she had found a product that would change detoxification forever - Natural Cellular Defense. She also mentioned that there was a phenomenal business opportunity with it. I started taking the product and within days I had an energy level that I don't even remember having when I was an athlete in high school. I called my friend Delores and told her that I had to go for it. Keep in mind that I had no time and no experience in the industry. Delores pointed out to me "what have you got to lose" and she was right. I went for it, making a list of everyone I knew and called them. I introduced Natural Cellular Defense and Waiora to 14 people who signed up. I had never done networking before and I had no idea what I was doing.
If it hadn't been for Waiora's Support Team I don't think I would have gotten far! Now I look to Brian Cunningham and John Haremza for their leadership and training.
I would never want anyone to go through the health challenges that I experienced. Now for the first time there is a product that has the ability to prevent people from toxic overload. Within a month of joining I was overwhelmed with the calls I was getting about the results people were experiencing. They were life-changing and it was so emotional to hear them talk of the difference it made in their health. Not only that but the financial freedom it provided was amazing - people on my team were able to quit their jobs.
I realized I was facing a choice - to focus on helping people with their health and wealth or to continue writing mortgages. I took a close look at the mortgage industry and realized that I hated it for how it enslaved families. Hawaii is an expensive place to live and often to qualify for a mortgage families had to take on two or three jobs - never seeing each other. Then I looked closely at Waiora and how I could give financial freedom through the opportunity. I had never felt like I had a purpose - now I do. Even though I had over $40,000 in loan commissions pending, I made a decision to leave the mortgage industry and do Waiora full-time and I have never looked back.
Waiora has changed my life and given me freedom I wouldn't normally have. In June I got a call from my dad that my mom was deteriorating. She suffered from heart disease and had several strokes. I left to go home and take care of her. At that time my Waiora team was 300 people strong. I supported them when I could but I was there first and foremost to take care of my mom. After months of care I returned to Hawaii in September. If I had been with the mortgage company my job would have been long gone and I wouldn't have been able to give my mom the care and attention she deserves. With Waiora, my business was not only waiting for me, but my team had grown to over 1,000 people! Waiora gave me my mom back and for that I am forever grateful.
