Dale Hammerschmidt
My background has always been in education and specifically in coaching, both at the high school and college level. Because of my background, I am a very goal orientated person. I loved the competitive nature of sports and hated losing more than I liked winning. For 10 years I was a successful assistant football coach at the college level, which comes with a small paycheck and an even smaller chance of progressing to the head coach job. So I focused on the education side of my career and became an administrator at the high school level.
You have to really like being an educator and find it to be rewarding on its own merits because it's certainly not a lucrative career. I was introduced to network marketing while I was a college coach and found it a means to make extra money. The similarities and differences to teaching and coaching were striking. On the one hand, it was the same - mentoring and helping people - but on the other hand, there were no limits to what I could earn; network marketing had exponential growth potential.
Like many people that have joined Waiora, I had very little success in the industry. But since Waiora, that's changed. When I was first introduced to Waiora I looked at the exclusive, unique product line, lucrative marketing plan and the strong leadership - it just seemed perfect. People say that if it sounds too good to be true then don't do it, but this is the one time where you should. While I knew that all the right pieces were in place before I joined, it was after I joined that I got a true appreciation for how Waiora is different from everyone else out there.
So many companies in the industry are full of hype and you go to their events and it's just a rah-rah session. That just isn't for me. Waiora is a company built on substance at every level from the products to the company leadership. From having attended the conferences and the reward trips, I've met Stan Cherelstein and Eddie Stone along with other corporate staff. They are humble, down-to-earth people that know what they're doing. There's a real family atmosphere at Waiora that I like and I have trust in them that they'll always do the right thing and make the right decision. I think that's a major reason why we've grown so fast for a small, young company.
I've always been a hard worker, but with Waiora I can leverage my efforts so I'm getting far greater results for less effort. So much so, that I've been able to create a full-time income on a part-time basis. That came in really handy this past spring when I was informed by my employer I wasn't going to be offered a contract for the next school year. This was very shocking to me and if something like this can happen to me it can happen to anyone in any city or small town. I can only imagine what would have happened if I hadn't been building a business part-time with Waiora. Now I'm seeing the true promise of network marketing - being my own boss and setting my own hours. Because of Waiora, I was able to control my own destiny.
When I was starting out with Waiora I wrote down an affirmation — "Waiora will provide my family the things in life that most people only dream about." I have this posted in my office and keep it with me everywhere I go. Like other leaders of the company, I am a firm believer in writing down goals, another characteristic I learned from coaching. Whatever your goals are write them down along with the date you want to achieve them because goals are dreams with deadlines. It is also important to keep the goals realistic, and on a daily basis list the steps you are willing to take to attain your goals.
If I could share advice with others on becoming successful it would be to always try to improve yourself as a person, a networker and a communicator. I continually invest in ongoing training whether it's a book, motivational CD or a network marketing training course. When I coached at the college level, every year we would visit another college coaching staff. We would always say if we could only learn one thing from the visit that could help us win it was worth the visit. I still use this philosophy today and try to find that one thing that will help me be successful through ongoing training. I then share what I learn with the leaders in my organization and pass it through the organization. This is where my background in teaching has come in handy. I firmly believe to be successful you have to teach others how to sponsor and teach others. Duplication happens when others on your team are using your system.
Lastly, I need say a huge thank you to everyone in my group upline and downline. If it wasn't for the support from a great upline and the focus of the leaders within my group, I wouldn't be where I'm at today. Thank you and Go Waiora!
