After graduating with a doctorate in medicine from the University of Indonesia, I came to the United States for my internship, undergoing rotations at the University of Loma Linda and completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UCLA. I tried several specialties prior to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation to find the one that would be my lifelong passion. But it wasn't until a personal tragedy occurred that I found my true calling. My own sibling, a non-smoker, non-drinker who was athletically fit and only 30-years-old, suffered a severe stroke. People of that age and lifestyle are not supposed to have strokes and I made it my mission to determine what had happened and why.

I learned that despite an outwardly healthy appearance, on the inside my sibling had the body of an elderly person. I also learned that there was a history of stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes on both sides of my families. Not only was I concerned for my sibling's health, but now I was worried I might face the same fate from these hereditary factors. I'll never know how close I came to cardiac failure, adult-onset diabetes, hypertension, stroke or other devastating illness. I vowed to devote the rest of my medical career to the newly emerging science of Anti-Aging medicine. I met and was invited to join practice with the late Dr. Robert Kerr in San Gabriel, the founding father of Anti-Aging Medicine and Hormone Replacement Therapy and I began to practice under his direction for several years.

At the time, Anti-Aging medicine was better known as integrative or alternative medicine. This specialty combines the best of several sciences and practices including traditional or allopathic medicine, toxicology, alternative therapies and nutritional support. After years of additional study and clinical practice, I became a Diplomate and Board Certified by the American Board Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine (A4M), and earned the honor of becoming an Oral Board Examiner for the Academy, overseeing testing of physicians seeking board certification for several years. I was also honored with Diplomate status of the American College for the Advancement of Medicine (A.C.A.M.) and the American Board of Chelation Therapy (A.B.C.T).
